World's First Smart Script Tool for Multi-Camera Live & Studio Shows

World's First Smart Script Tool for Multi-Camera Live & Studio Shows

Dramatify launches a unique, collaborative script tool for multi-camera live and studio shows, developed together with live-TV show directors, production coordinators and scriptwriters.

Today, most live and studio shows handcraft scripts and running orders in spreadsheets — a tool made for numbers, not scripts. Existing digital script tools on the market have so far been made for either drama or news, not entertainment, galas or talk shows. With Dramatify’s new script tool for multi-camera shows, producers and their teams can save time, resources and a lot of frustration.

With Dramatify, show directors, producers, production coordinators, technical crews, screenwriters and talent get a live and studio script tool made for the task, including easily customised script setup, collaborative writing, tailor-made views for technical crew and talent, automatically colour-coded scenes by source, running/real/reverse time options, one-click addition of sets and cast, a dark mode for studio shoots, and teleprompter export of either full dialogue and action, or dialogue only.

Dramatify’s smart script tool is also fast, thanks to its drag-and-drop interface; collaborative, letting teams decide exactly who can read or write; multi-homed across computers, tablets and smartphones; fully integrated with Dramatify’s other production features; and eco-friendly, removing the need to print information for distribution.

Built with Yle

“There has been a huge demand for digital tools that make productions smooth. TV shows are getting bigger and more complex, with more screens, set-ups, graphics, props,” says Rami Lindholm, TV director at the Finnish national broadcaster Yle, who was essential to developing the new script and running-order tool. Lindholm has a background spanning several hundred galas and shows. “The point is that the software that’s been available until now was made for news or dramas. Demands for entertainment shows are different — spreadsheets are frustrating to use as a script or running-order tool.”

“Co-operation with Yle has been very important, because Yle produces every genre. It’s been essential to receive input from a big player, and to extend and integrate the production crews’ wishes into Dramatify — from team management and communication to call sheets and reports,” says Dramatify’s CEO and co-founder Annika Lidne. “The TV and film industry is years behind other industries when it comes to smart, eco-friendly, mobile collaboration tools — that’s why we founded Dramatify. Many production companies and broadcasters work across genres, from drama to entertainment, talk shows, documentaries, commercials or trailers. We understand their need for one tool made for the specific formats and processes in our industry that also supports their team and their productions regardless of format and content. Dramatify is one system for all team members, both crew and cast.”
