How do I create a new budget?

Creating a new budget in Dramatify takes under two minutes. Here’s how.

Step 1: Open the Budgeting module

From the production dashboard, click Budget in the left navigation. If you don’t see it, check that your plan includes Budgeting (Fiction Standard and above).

Step 2: Create a new budget

Click the + New Budget button in the top-right corner.

Give your budget a name — typically the production name and episode or version (e.g. The Forest - Series 1 - v1.0).

Step 3: Choose a starting point

You have three options:

• Start blank — add all accounts and line items from scratch
• Import from Movie Magic — upload an existing .mbb or .mmb file and Dramatify maps it automatically
• Duplicate an existing budget — useful when starting a new episode or series based on a previous production

Step 4: Set currency and production period

Select your production currency and enter the production start and end dates. These dates connect your budget to the production calendar.

Step 5: Add your first accounts

Click Add Account to start building your budget structure. Dramatify follows the standard production account code format (e.g. 1000 — Above the Line, 2000 — Production, etc.).
